I suppose the 10hp is so that in the rare case that the IB finishes the fight at full health, when bloodlust ends the IB will still have full hp.
e.g. IB has hp of 150. He gains 10hp to make it 160 and when he ends the fight with 160hp, he will return to 150 hp. If the IB does not have the temporary hp and loses 10 hp in the end, the IB will end the fight at 140/150 hp which doesn't look good for the IB (aesthetically).
The IB must lose 10 hp in the end. Because it's cool.
