Rant incoming...

What is the most common complaint about remote controls (for TV, DVR, etc.)?

That they get lost easily.

We have had pagers built into our cordless phones for what, over a decade now?

WHY THE BLEEP HAS NOBODY THOUGHT TO PUT A PAGER IN TV/DVR/ETC. REMOTES?

This seems so ridiculously obvious it frustates me that it hasn't happened yet. I can't be the only person to ever think of this.

Because your remote doesn't have a base station to put the page button on.

You could always get a Motorola Pager, and duct-tape it to the remote. Then every time you lose the remote, you just call up the paging service, provided you can find your phone.

Probably interference with the signal. Though it doesn't get intereference from holding your cellphone near it, so I wouldn't know.
Maybe it's because of the batteries?

Put the button on the television itself.

It could be big and red and read "Don't Panic" in nice, friendly letters.

Everything is better if it's got a big red button with "Don't Panic" in nice, friendly letters written on it.

duck tape solves everything....add to remote...add to chair...can't lose the remote unless you lose the chair...

If you can do this, you need serious help..

The next obvious question: Why did it take so long into the Information Age for something like this to happen? We've had widely-available pagers for twentysomething years.
