I am very confused as to how XP from a kill works. It doesn't seem to be the same as in Nexuswar, and I couldn't find the answer on the Nexus Clash wiki. Could anyone answer my question?

You gain XP equal to their level. This is then sent through any appropriate modifiers for the difference in your levels. You can see more on those modifiers on the wiki page.
