This cursed tomes cover, spine and back are an intricate maze of cogs and puzzle locks that constantly move and tick.
The Nwa L'wha or black spirit as it is translated, was written by the MAD Haitian Voodoo witch doctor Papa Rab'Att'An. The legend goes he traveled the Nexus gathering the knowledge on all sources of powerful death magic and documented core conduits to connect to Hashaa's time manipulation energy.
This book has changed hands but two times. Once when Papa Rab'Att'An was consumed by Hashaa for attempting to overthrow him. The legend states that Hashaa wears his soul in a caged locket. I think this is just the poetic license on Crispin Valds part.
He was The stongest disciple of Rab'Att'An and the second scholar of the Nwa L'wha. Who went quite mad with dark power. His contribution to its metal pages, Thologhru insanity magic. He locked his soul in the book for reasons that are unknown. There are some that speculate he is the spirrit form that carries the cursed book when it becomes animated.
Now, the insane Dr Cleaver controls this occult device.

Build-wise you have alot of freedom. The must-haves are already included for the RP, and everything else beyond the curses and utility is not really needed (and glyphs would be contraproductive if you want to be found). _________________ Real Mages Cast from Mana

Maybe an aura spell like acid mantle instead of Glyphs? Just for a little more tankiness when I hide. Like it burns to the touch with evil energy. As it is being a library / dark library search character, potions and Ice shouldn't be a problem, plus Dark heart for MP/reapplying Mantle / Armour spells. Plus it has tap leyline for extra MP, most libraries have one running through them. Toyed with the idea of taking Lord over the domain skill for when in Stygian libraries (maybe with CP badges as its last skill) worth the large investment? Or perhaps Greater Glyph Erasure (Glyphs crumble under its presence)? As its very last skill.
Example of how I would play it: stack acid mantle(If I take it), Mystic Armour + shield, Take mana potion (and / or tap leyline for MP drawing if needed) and hide. If they don't manage to kill it by the time I log in, or run out of ap trying...
Cut the power (Lights go out), Curse them, Poison them, Curse the tile and Crown of pain them (bolts of evil energy). Stay un-hidden on the cursed tile (if I don't kill the target) and wait to be killed (Read) for tentacle fun. Or re-hide dormant, waiting for the next victim to find and open the book.
If you plan on staying in stygia/areas with unholy leylines lord over domain provides some pretty huge bonuses. +10% bonus to defence, +20% to hit and +5 to all soaks makes you really hard to kill. I don't know if there are libraries with unholy leylines but if there are I would defiantly recommend that skill.
Cosmic Affinity doesn't seem all that useful when you already have ways of replenishing mana, and most of your mana costs are keeping defensive abilities up.
For a feral the entire Intimidating Aura tree is really inefficient, as it costs 7 AP and 16 MP to give an enemy -10% defense and -2 to soaks. Considering how this is after you use cruse of blood and agony, you could probably kill them (or at least come pretty close) with 7 AP worth of crown of pain attacks. At the very least I would recommend skipping Domineering Presence as it costs 90 CP for attack and damage penalties only lasting an hour, which is only really good for live combat.

What would you recommend for replacements? I deliberately don't want wings as a book with wings isn't very fitting to the character (No wings, MADNESS!). I did think as you pointed out the high ap and mp costs for Intimidating aura is rather large, I went with it originally for the RP aspect of just tainting the whole tile. But yes I am open to suggestions for replacements for the skills you mention above. Maybe strength and stamina to make it harder to kill combined with the other resistance abillities?
I took the Cosmic affinity so I could do more before having to draw MP using Darkheart / leyline ect (Not every library has a leyline as you pointed out). Plus extra MP if I need to reload the crown of pain.
I will do some leyline exploring in Stygia later today to see if they are common enough to get Lord of the Domain (90cp is a very big investment, however it is a very powerful skill). My gut tells me I should be happy with my findings on this little scouting party.
