Introduction
Thanks to everyone who helped make this anniversary a memorable one, including jorm who was so kind as to grace us with his presence. Now that the confetti has settled and we've all gone back to exterminating one another, it's safe to say "business as usual". The flip side of this is continuing to churn out content and development. The least of which involves testing the new B4 code. It is also with great pleasure that we release the eighth batch of portraits; the T2 Spellcasters!

Class Art - Batch 8: Tier 2 Spellcaster Classes




B4 Alpha
Planned launch time for B4 alpha is 0:01 UTC Sunday. At that time, a link will appear below. The alpha tests Mortals and mortal skills excluding Engineering and maybe a few others, but just because something isn't in yet doesn't mean it isn't making it into the game.

This is not replacing B3.5, which will still be live. B4 Alpha will have downtime, there will be frequent character resets, and plenty of bugs. That's what testing is for Razz

Conclusion
There's one more batch of art left, closing the chapter on class portrait art. If the community is interested in seeing more art or perhaps has any suggestions for what type of content to get art for, we're always looking for feedback. Additionally, with B4 Alpha testing underway, we get that much closer to a solid B4 release. How far it is in the future is yet to be determined, but rest assured that there will be regular opportunities to test upcoming material and provide input.

Constructive criticism #1: Please have mercy on those of us with visual impairments and put a solid background behind the letters in the welcome text. And perhaps don't make the whole screen move - a box with moving pictures is much easier on the eyes than the whole screen changing.

I'm going with Kylinn here. That front page, the combination of moving background and the text composition hurts.

Edit: I think even if the background isn't moving the text would be hellish to read.

There's a reason why I'm a software developer, not a designer Very Happy But yeah, it is rather painful. I think a faded static background closer to the profile pages of tier 2 characters would be more appropriate, with a smaller slideshow.

This is very snappy and responsive. No longer must we reload the page every time we search! Can't attack with archery though. Sad

Excellent! I've just started playing and already I have 50 heart containers, 59 Nimbus boots, 11 puzzle pieces, 1 book and 0 genius ideas.

That's a little better.

The active combat button mashing is fun! Whoever clicks faster, wins! BTW, I love that Unarmed combat has been rolled into Melee Combat. Now it's just as versatile as Ranged Combat!

Somehow I managed to keep searching for books while over encumbered, 60/50 weight. Discovered this when I went to reload my bow.

You need to reload the bow before you attack - I know the alpha doesn't do a very good job of pointing that out at the moment Smile

The alpha homepage is mostly a placeholder at the moment.

On the subject of this, can you make bows and guns you pick up display the magic (0) instead of nothing? It confused me for a bit.
