I may be imagining it but I've been searching the nearby library solidly for about 6 days, and I've found 4 gems.

3 of them were necrotic bloody ray.. >___>

Well from full 60 odd AP I used to get usually 1 gem per search cycle, right now its once every other day - so about 1 in 180 searches. This is what I generally get instead of gems...:

- You search and find a(n) Newspaper. (2010-06-05 11:43:12).
- You search and find a(n) Newspaper. (2010-06-05 11:43:12).
- You search and find nothing. (2010-06-05 11:43:14).
- You search and find a(n) Newspaper. (2010-06-05 11:43:14).
- You search and find nothing. (2010-06-05 11:43:16).
- You search and find a(n) Newspaper. (2010-06-05 11:43:16).
- You search and find a(n) Newspaper. (2010-06-05 11:43:17).
- You search and find a(n) Newspaper. (2010-06-05 11:43:18).
- You search and find a(n) Newspaper. (2010-06-05 11:43:19).

Damn newspapers... Wouldn't be so bad if they at least had some sort of flavour text such as recent deaths or something... But why are they so common?

On the prime plane I would recommend museums for spellgems.. my sorcerer found them far more often than the onyx it was after.

I wish I had your luck, when my wizard was searching libraries I got one every 2-3 days, and when I did it was usually blur. Damn blurs! found more of them than all the other gems I've found put together.

Found my 4th Necrotic Ray. Evil or Very Mad

I suspect that outer-plane locations, being more magical and whatnot, probably have a higher find rate for gems (ie Damned Libraries, VoEs etc). Only problem is the neutral plane doesn't exist yet, so us wizards get kind of screwed by this..
