"Voting with known scum is suspicious!"
"Not voting with known scum would be suspicious too!"

- Actual things said today.

But the crowd finally comes together and turns against Wozzy, he is easily beaten to death, and a quick search of his home revealed a huge computer setup, several displays, and a set of instructions from The Organization. It looks like Wozzy was their Tech Guy, and could tap into the security systems of anyone's home, setting off all of the alarms and keeping the owner busy all night trying to shut the damned things off. (Roleblock).

A feeling of peace and relief falls upon the surviving members of the town, until a van pulls into the town center. Mayor Teksura steps out.

"Hey everyone, I'm back from my unannounced week long vacation. Did I miss anything?"

He is promptly lynched.

Roles and night actions/PMs to follow.

Mission briefing:

Greetings Agent 27, I hope that you have been well. As you are already aware we have had some concerning reports coming in recently. After that town dropped off the map with seemingly everyone dead we sent in a team to investigate and discovered the cause, some sort of science experiment gone wrong. A quarantine was set up but the creature managed to slip through out fingers. Your primary objective is to eradicate this "goo monster" before it gets out of hand. Be advised that we have reason to believe that the creature has the power to control minds, so shoot first and ask questions later. The following information is top secret: The experiment that created the goo monster did so using DNA strands found on a mucous like substance that a team of astronauts accidentally found orbiting the planet. Since we do believe the origin to be extraterrestrial in nature, standard procedures are in place. We don't know what this thing is capable of, and we can't risk a contamination of the population. Your secondary objective is to quietly and discreetly take care of the local population as you deem necessary. We don't want any more of these things sprouting from anyone's chest, and it'd be nice if word about this never got out.

You will be serving as this mission's WEAPON SPECIALIST on behalf of THE ORGANIZATION. Your partners in this are Shadok and Wozzy. You may communicate with them at night but ultimately you are responsible for choosing who and exactly how you eliminate at night. (You can pick and choose the flavor of any kill you make).

You win when the situation is contained to the point where members of THE ORGANIZATION outnumber all others. Good luck.

You will be serving in a COVERT OPS capacity in this mission on behalf of THE ORGANIZATION. Your partners in this are BlackHeartKabal and Wozzy. You may communicate with them at night but your primary responsibilities will be reconnaissance. Each night you will be able to check 1 person and determine if they are the goo monster, or if they are under the influence of the goo monster. Due to your specialized training our scientists believe you will be able to resist the goo monster's mind control capabilities, and as such you should be keeping an eye on your partners. You will learn if any of them fall under the influence of the goo monster. Should BlackHeartKabal become compromised, you will take over his duties and perform the kill at night. Further, in this eventuality, you have the option to eliminate BlackHeartKabal before he has a chance to act.

You win when the situation is contained to the point where members of THE ORGANIZATION outnumber all others. Good luck.

After your victory over the last town, the government set up some kind of quarantine zone in hopes of containing you. It cost you every last one of your few remaining puppets, but you managed to escape. You're now in a new town and you need more.

You are SKOFFIN... err... I mean you are the GOO MONSTER. I do not suggest telling people you are Skoffin because we all know I'm the real Skoffin, ok? Things would have been just fine if they had let you be. But now you can see the people of this world are a threat to you, and your only hope is to control them all. Each night you may choose 1 person to MIND CONTROL. They will become aligned with you, learn your identity, and you will be able to speak with them at night. And they will be able to speak with anyone else you turned into your puppet.

You win when you have gained control of enough players to create a majority, good luck.

You've been in this town a long time and you've seen some crazy stuff. But after this you're going to demand someone give you a pay raise. You are the local COP. You've served with your Deputy Azure for years, and know he's not involved in any of this, but the rest of these folks? you're going to have to look into that.

Each night you may choose 1 person to investigate. Because you know how to do your job, you will learn their alignment.

You win when all threats to your town are eliminated, good luck.

You weren't ready for all this, but you have a job to do and you're going to do it. You are the local DEPUTY to Sheriff soap. You've worked with him your entire career and know he's not involved in any of these strange events.

Technically you're not supposed to be here, but you had to prove what you've been working towards all these years since that generic material was found in orbit. You are the last remaining SCIENTIST who helped to create the goo monster, and you're pretty sure you understand how its mind control abilities work. This could be a major breakthrough in the field of... Well they're just going to have to create an entirely new field of study for this, aren't they? You just imagine the potential for human advancement once we have mastered just a fraction of the mental powers contained in that goo monster. Telepathy, Telekinesis, the list goes on and on! It's a shame the goo monster chooses only to use mind control powers.

Since you understand how the mind control works, you have created a device that can disrupt it. Each night you may activate the device and create an anti-Telepathy field around any 1 person of your choice. That parson can not be recruited by the goo monster. Additionally, if you do happen to target the goo monster, it will be unable to use its mind control powers that night. You've made sure the instructions on your device are well placed and easy to understand, so in the event that something unthinkable happens to you, you're confidant that whoever finds the device will be able to make it work.

You win with the town, good luck.

You don't know what's going on, but with the mayor dead you need someone else to protect. Anyone. Protecting is what you live for. If you couldn't stand guard over someone and glare at anyone who looks like they're getting too close, you don't think you could even get up in the morning. You are a BODYGUARD and a damn good one, too. Each night you may select 1 person and protect them from any nightkill. If they would be killed by any means, you will step in and do everything in your power to prevent that from happening, even if it means putting your life on the line and fighting an attacker to the death in an epic battle. You really want that to be the way you go. You're kind of fanatical about your work.

You win when every threat to the town has been eliminated. Good luck.

You are Ted, and you're kind of an arrogant, cocky nerd. You play a children's trading card game but you're not very good at it. So you play with an obviously handicapped no-rare deck "for the challenge" because then anytime you lose you can blame it on that and go on about how easily you'd have won if you had really been playing with a real deck.

You think you have some special amazing deckbuilding powers, but you don't. You have no special powers. At all. Also you're a dick.

You win with the town once all threats have been eliminated. Good luck.

You win with the town, good luck.

You are Nick and you are going to be a big time film maker someday. Someday. Yeah.... Someday. right now, you're just making the occasional home-movie with your friends, using bad effects, crude editing, and dialogue that is mostly improvised by people who have no idea what the hell they are even doing. Everyone agrees that shooting the film is fun, but watching the film is just painful. You have no special powers at your disposal.

you win with the town. Good luck.

You are Steve and you really hate your job. You're a teacher at the local high school, but they don't really trust you with a full sized class because you have a tendency to only care about 1 or 2 of the students. The rest are on their own, to the point where you don't even care what happens to them and if any of your chosen few students decide they want to pick on anyone, you'll join the fun. You hate being corrected, even when you're wrong. Especially when you'll wrong. Last year you sent someone out of the classroom for stopping a lesson when you said something that was flatly mathematically impossible. It took you over an hour to drill everyone into repeating what you had said, rather than believing that kid and his "facts". Overall, you're a pretty shitty teacher and you have no special powers.

You win when the town is safe, good luck.

Skoffin/Buttercup
Quote:
Turns out you're not the goo monster anymore, which is good because everyone is going to assume you're still the goo monster. Which sucks because everyone knows the goo monster is bad and they will probably try and lynch you for it. Which is bad because you are actually just an innocent DOCTOR who was just passing through town.

Each night you may visit someone and if there is any sort of medical emergency, you will do everything in your power to save their life.

You win with the town, good luck.

You prepare to leave your house but you sense someone coming! You abandon your plan to recruit Shadok and instead focus your efforts on the approaching threat. You manage to drive them off, but doing so leaves you weakened. You don't think you'll be able to do this again.

You were the target of a nightkill tonight! You managed to temporally scramble the mind of the attacker this time, but you're pretty sure you won't be able to do that again. You have not recruited anyone.

Spent much of today trying to puzzle out what the village's goals are. Seems that everything I think I know tends to be a lie. Villager code 012 "Tomppa" has caused me no end of grief, especially in the early stages of the day. Fortunately he's also woefully empty of any charisma to speak of, so he got no momentum. The day came to an end when Deceased 001: "Skoffin" seemed to go insane, becoming as if a possessed person and ranting when formerly silence had reigned. The town desperately killed the lunatic, only to find that the madness was of non-supernatural causes. We found evidence of a "Buttercup" lying around the home of Deceased 001, leading to the conclusion of some sort of split personality which took hold at the wrong time.

Tonight, in pursuit of information, I will be investigating the home of Villager 008 "Eaglewiz" and checking out if they're the goo or not. I pray to any higher power willing to listen that I find what I'm looking for so we can end this threat before it becomes worse.

You spend the night keeping an eye on him, but EagleWiz does not appear to be associated with the goo. Later that night, you feel something clawing at the back of your mind, but thanks to your special training, you manage to resist.

You do some digging on BlackHeartKabal, but something isn't right about that guy. The name shows up in all the standard databases, but there is no history to him. Suspicious, you discreetly pay his house a little visit tonight, picking the lock is easy enough but once inside you're disturbed to find a wide range of weapons, high tech equipment, and file after file. You quickly flip through some of the files and make a shocking discovery:

BlackHeartKabal is a member of something called The Organization, one of those federal run off the books operations. And from what you can tell, they aren't here to help.

{End of recovered file. Accessing remainder of uncorrupted log}

Spent much of last night in a battle of wills against the goo's hivemind. Even now I still hear the lingering cries of it, pushing against my mind and calling me to give in and join them. Fortunately my training has gifted me with the willpower to reject the call. They will not draw me away from the Organisation and its noble cause.

Agent 27 is dead. Not literally, not yet, but soon enough. The fool revealed himself, claiming, truthfully, to be behind the murder of the various townsfolk and, less truthfully, to be trying to protect the town as a whole. I had to take direct steps myself to aid 27 to prevent his premature death, resulting in the unavoidable and wasteful death of a local law enforcement officer, Deceased subject 003: "Soap". I have no doubt in my mind that Agent 27 will be killed tomorrow by angry villagers and that my part in the death of Deceased 003 will come back in the future to compromise my mission. With any luck, Agent 89 and I shall be able to make up for the loss of our ally.

In the meanwhile, I must earn the trust of the villagers, if possible. I promised them I would investigate Subject 008: "Saint Jimmy" and I shall do exactly so, in order to gain the town's trust again and hopefully avoid a date with the hangman.

While horrific, a part of me hopes for another round against the goo. At least I know my own ability to cope with the goo's assault is sufficient to fight it off. To have to deal with one less victim of the goo's influence is well worth any sacrifice I have to pay. This is what I signed up for after all.

As predicted, 27 now lies dead. The town raided and destroyed the tools he had brought with. After the town had gone to bed, I returned to his house at twilight and opened the hidden dropbox the two of us had arranged beforehand. Fortunately for me, the angry mob did not find the cache and I was able to retrieve the Glock 23 and MP5 SMG which 27 had left in case of this very scenario. I've left co-ordinates with 89 to be read in the event of my own death which will lead him to a new cache I've set up containing the MP5, since him going back to 27's base after my death would arouse suspicion.

I'm not the best shot in the Organisation but I'll make do. I must admit to having paused upon wrapping my hand upon the Glock and offering a prayer that 27's soul found peace as thanks for his hassling me to visit the practice range more. I had hoped to avoid needing the skills, but it seems his efforts were not in vain.

Tonight, I take over from 27. Without his skills in fabrication, this duty will be inefficient but I will make do. I'll be making sure that Subject 012: Tomppa never again pollutes the world with his inane comments. It's hard to do so when you've been killed.

Once I complete this grizzy task, I will spend the remainder of my time investigating Subject 001: "Usernamepending" for any sign of goo infestation. With this information I will be able to accurately point at either him or Subject 003: "Invisime" as the goo's source.

I'd like to request the Organisation begins to monitor my and 89's deadman switches. The possibility of failure is beginning to look very possible and we cannot allow this infestation to escape the town. Should we fail, only the town's destruction will be a viable way to contain the infestation.

You casually stroll down to Tomppa's house and put a bullet in his head. You lack the expertise that 27 had, but you've got other things to worry about tonight.

You head down to take a look at UsernamePending, and lo and behold, you discover he is secretly The Goo Monster itself!

You set off all the alarms in his place. Heh. Heh. Heh.

You are just about to leave to recruit Azure, when the security alarms of your house start going off! That noise is going to attract unwanted attention, so you instead spend the whole night desperately trying to disable the damned thing.

Your action has been blocked.

Investigate Tomppa, I've seen them walking around all goo'd up so im prepared for the worst!

You take a good hard look at Tomppa's records and after a bit of observation, you conclude that he is nothing more than a regular guy trying to make a living in this town.

Night 5
Covert Ops (Shadok)- check invisime, kill Saint Jimmy
Tech Guy (Wozzy)- roleblock saint jimmy
Deputy (Azure) check EagleWiz
Bodyguard (Saint_Jimmy) Protect EagleWiz

Investigate EagleWiz!

You do some digging on EagleWiz, and find nothing out of the ordinary. He seems like he is just a regular guy trying to make a living in this town.

And huh. I was honestly thinking there that you were messing with us >.>

You get your stuff together and you're all set to protect the shit out of EagleWiz... But just before you leave your alarm system starts to flip out. You panic and start trying to get the thing to shut off when you hear a sound behind you. turning around, you see the wrong end of a gun...

Bang.

The good news is, the last thing you think is "At least they aren't killing EagleWiz.", so you die content in that knowledge.

You have a good time messing with his system.

Logdate: 4/5/16. "Night 5"

The mother goo-monster itself has been slain in its disguised form of Deceased 007: "UsernamePending". After only unsuccessful investigations for the past few nights, it was jarring to stumble right into the central hive last night. Fortunately for me, it seems that their past attack upon my mind allowed me to register as non-hostile and I was able to flee the nest in relative safety.

With a few well-placed encouragements, 89 and I were able to rile up the uncontrolled masses to aid us in the destruction of the gooey mass the next day, the creature unable to defend itself in its disguised form. Attached to this log is a sample of the goo-monster's remains for the Organisation to examine.

Tonight I will be investigating Subject 006: "Invisime", as he fell comatose after the death of the goo, a sign consistant with the hypothesis as to what would happen to a victim after the queen died. It warrants investigation to ensure the subject cannot mutate and renew the assault upon us.

Additionally I will be removing Subject 004: "Saint Jimmy" from this world, as the good sheriff has left him a potential thorn in the side of the survival of Organisation agents.

For now, recommend the Organisation stay on alert and ready to bombard the village should both 89 and my deadman switches deactivate, pending the confirmation of the goo-monster having perished.

You go and check up on Invisime and find obvious signs that the Goo Monster had control over him at one point, but with the monster dead, he's recovering.

With that taken care of, you seek out Saint Jimmy's house and find him fiddling with the alarm system. You walk up behind him and just as he turns around, you put a bullet in his face.

Yeah, that will do.

Quote:
You wake up in the morning to the entire town checking up on you. You quickly realize what happened.

The goo monster had gained control over you, but with its death the influence is gone. Astounding, really. You theorized that the psychic basklash could be fatal in this situation, and yet here you are with nothing more than-

Oh... oh wait, there it is. The worst headache you've ever had in your life. And the sound, why is it so loud? And the light, it's all too bright. You figure you'll get better in time, but right now you feel terrible.

Meanwhile: Your win condition has changed. Free of the control of the goo monster you once again win with the town! Lucky thing that, too.

Night 6
Tech Guy (Wozzy)- roleblock Azure, no kill
Deputy (Azure) check Invisime

You get ready to leave, but the alarms of your house start going off left and right. You frantically try to disable them, but it's not much good. You spend the whole night trying to shut the damn thing up.

you laugh and laugh as he tries to shut the alarms off.

That was the worst string of luck I've had in a mafia game, like, ever.

UNP You really got wrecked this game. Killed night one (Tek saw fit to send you a lifeline Razz) then you tried to convert a non convertible person twice in a row when you weren't being roleblocked by Wozzy Sad

Well played by Organization, too bad that towns common sense combined with my will of revenge for Soaps savage beating was greater then you all Razz

To be fair, I'm actually more cunning as a cultist than any other role. Not cult leader, just cultist.

UNP just happened to try to cultify me in a game where I was completely immune to his efforts.

Also not sure if my "Agent logs" are something I should be proud of or ashamed that I spent so much time working on Rolling Eyes

I want to know why BHK went rogue when he did although. Until him revealing himself as "third party" we were pretty under the radar. After that I had to directly intervene to try get soap killed, which left myself right in everyone's sights afterwards. I should have just thrown him to die under the bus Laughing

I found them great, save the occasional typo and the one reference I didn't get.

I tried. I'm not perfect nor actually an agent, so mistakes happen Laughing

Which reference was that?

Soap was just new enough that the normal lack of refuge in audacity didn't kick in. I was relying on everyone assuming that my claim was so well backed up and thought out that it couldn't be a lie, and then Soap's investigation sunk it.
I was planning to sell out Pendant as the Goo Monster the day I got lynched, and was relying on everyone noticing Shadok letting me self hammer. They just didn't stop to think I was framing Shadok.
All in all, other than my claim, I had no real plan ( I figured Shadok would handle that ).

Also, with what happened with Soap, we should probably not have any lynchers for the next few games, because there's no way in hell anyone is going to ignore investigative results like that anymore.

Next time tell me so I can actually make one instead of dropping me into the deep end of the pool and going "SWIM" while I flail around Laughing

The Momento Mori thing. I'm not very big on movies or anything like that, though.
