I'm working on a fallen type character. I want to try a shadow dirk attack from hiding kind of thing but I have no idea what I'm doing so I'm open to taking it in a new direction. Any advice? Input? Bad puns?

That's definitely a viable way to play a Fallen, although keep in mind you will do less damage than a gun Fallen if you're not hidden (without taking into account the target's soaks), and therefore less damage to forts and evil faction wards. Definitely not a deal breaker; just something I thought I'd point out in case you hadn't already considered it.

(On the plus side, you won't constantly have to stuff bits of yourself into your guns to reload them. And your faction mates won't be constantly throwing chainsaws at you for you to reload those. NOT LOOKING AT ANYONE IN PARTICULAR, NOPE.)

Other than that, uh...Infernal Jets and Shadow Meld are amazing hope you have a knife time as a Fallen good luck buy gold BYE

I played a very successful version of this in the last breath. Here was my build on that character.

Level CP Skill
1 10 Melee Combat
2 0 -- Saved --
3 20 Advanced Melee Combat
4 10 Repair Item
5 0 -- Saved --
6 20 Smithing
7 0 -- Saved --
8 0 -- Saved --
9 30 Master Smith
10 10 Sense Morality
11 30 Expert Melee Combat
12 0 Shield of Faith
12 20 Strong Attack
13 20 Combat Mastery
14 20 Bolster Attack
15 0 -- Saved --
16 40 Divine Armor
17 20 Planar Protection
18 10 Hide
19 0 -- Saved --
20 0 -- Saved --
21 0 Charade of Redemption
21 30 Shadowskulk
21 60 Shadow Dirk
22 0 -- Saved --
23 60 Shadow Meld
24 30 Oath of Steel
25 30 Abiding Hate
26 0 -- Saved --
27 60 Sadistic Glee
28 20 Advanced Hide
29 0 -- Saved --
30 60 Dark Trick

This is roughly how I did it. I think I took Advanced Hide earlier, and got some exploration badges to do that with.

He was fun to play. This was also based off of breath 3 skills, so some of these might not still exist. I haven't bother checking.

I have a question about the fallen
If you take spellcraft as part of your tier 2 tax, and learned yourself a few tricks, would you lose access to all your spells learned? Once you've transcended and can't use the middle skillset

You don't lose access per se, it's just that, as your spellcasting is an angelic skill, you don't get to use it unless your morality is good. So if you're a shepherd and buy spellcast, then go fallen, you can cast spells, but only if you climb back all the way to +20 MO. Not worth it, to be honest.
