Victor had been lost for ages. Ever since Marquai's influence had exploded on the nexus it was obvious the kinship, even if it were stronger than it had ever been, could not stand against the constructor's power. His home was doomed. But he was not done fighting yet. He could at least strike back at the powers by inconveniencing their minions, even if it could not save his home anymore.

And so, the Laurentian persisted.

As any nexal scholar knows, once you fall to evil slaying demons cannot redeem you. Victor had, since his home had been pulled into the nexus to serve as valhalla, walked a thin line in avoiding this pitfall. Perhaps out of pride, to show Namm even those who oppose him can be righteous. Or perhaps some small scrap of the boy who had grown up in a society shaped by Baraas remained. Either way, it was something he had made effort to avoid. That is, until he stopped caring.

Search, fight, kill, hide, sleep, die, be reborn. An existence, if a solitary and empty one. He honed his skills, he honed his weapons, he lost himself.

And so, the Laurentian fell.

One day he had been camped out in a vault of enlightenment. One must always know thine enemy, after all, and what better place to learn than in their own libraries? As expected of course, he was happened upon by an angel. What happened next, however, was not what the man was used to.

She sat with him, and healed his spirit by taking the burdens of his actions onto herself. He had been granted another chance by nothing more than the mercy of another almost mortal like himself. Once she had gone he returned to his books, but now his reasons had changed.

Just a scant few weeks, but what felt like a lifetime of hours spent pouring over the tomes and meditating later, he had decided. He returned to the old farmhouse in Cimmeria. He grasped the pendant he had held so long ago. He was himself once more.

And so, the Laurentian was redeemed.

Themys claps excitedly.

"I am glad I was there to witness this."
